What Do My Angiography Test Results Indicate?
In year 2013 My father suffered mild heart attack. After performing Angiography,we found that his main artery is only 30%blocked.one minor is 70% blocked n 3rd one is 100%.Doctor suggested that he should stay on medications n der is no need for stent etc
The latest EF is 52%.Earlier it was 56% before heart attack.. He is on following medicines:
Morning: Nitrofix20,Losar50,Carca 12.5
Noon:1/2 lasix,Livogen
Evening: Nitrofix20 and 1/2 Fruselac
Post Dinner: Deplatt A, Losar50, Carca12.5, Orvas20
However,i just came to know that from last 15 to 20 days he was taking only Deplatt75(Clopidogrel) instead of DeplattA75(Clopidogrel +Aspirin) by mistake
Today I have found n he has started taking DeplattA.Please suggest what harm could have been done to him till now because of lack of Aspirin...n what should be our next course of action.
There is no harm done . Continue the medication ad prescribed
Detailed Answer:
Hello ,
I am Dr. Mody and I would be addressing your concern. As u start I would like to reassure you that there has no harm been done and continue with deplatt A from now as prescribed.
Some logical reasons which you help you understand would be .
Clopidogrel and aspirin are both blood thinners and there role is to prevent a future event like a heart attack , so it's role is that or prevention and not treatment and hence there is no damage if he is all right as one of them was still on.
Both are needed only to prevent stent blocks , and many doctors use only one ( as per recommendation ) when the patient is managed conservatively . So using 2 is just being extra pre cautious by your doctor .
The aspirin stays active for 7 days after the last dose , so again missing some dose wouldn't harm in his situation .
Lastly getting the effects from 56 to 52 shouldn't be a problem as it's a subjective test and so two Ppl doing it may have that variability.
More than 50 is still normal .
An advanced test to know if there is any ongoing ischemia is to get stress thallium, if it's positive with large area of ischemia. It will help by optimisation of anti ischemic therapy or try to open the 100 % artery . The discussion about the same would be complex on this forum . So do discuss it out with your cardiologist on his next visit.
