What Do My Blood And Urine Test Reports Indicate?

default
Posted on Wed, 18 Feb 2015
Question: Hello Doctor,
I had my blood and urine test done last week and I see some of the values out of range. I don't see and option to share my report here. I workout regularly and hence follow a protien diet on a regular basis. I guess this is the cause. Could you please get me details on this and the cure? And also, how I could share the report with you?

Brief Answer:
Mild rise of LDL and BUN.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
I have seen the attached reports. There is mild rise in levels of direct LDL - cholesterol and blood urea nitrogen. Such a mild rise is not worrisome. The rise in cholesterol levels can be due to an increase in the fat intake and decreased activity. To decrease the LDL levels-
1. reduce saturated fat intake
2.     Maintain good body composition
3.     Increase dietary fiber
4.     Increase aerobic exercise
The rise in blood urea levels is due to an increase in protein based diet. Adding some carbohydrates and decreasing the protein and fat intake will help in bringing the levels back to normal in 6-8 weeks.
I hope this answers your query.

This details my query doctor. Thanks a lot.
Since I'm into body building, protien is an essential part of my diet. Could you please suggest on how much grams of protiens / carbs / fat to be taken per day, to bring down the levels?

Thanks

Brief Answer:
Restrict protein intake to 70gms per day.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing again.

You can restrict your protein intake to 70 grams per day. At least 1500 kcal should come from carbohydrates daily including the fibres. You should limit saturated fats to 10 percent of total calories and keep cholesterol to under 300 mg per day.

You can consult a Nutritionist who can guide you according to your cuisines and then keep tracking for changes.

Hope my answer is helpful.
