What Do My Blood Test Reports Indicate?
9 dpo: beta hcg is 6.06
12 dpo: beta hcg is 95.38 and progesteron is 155.5 nmol/L
14 dpo: beta hcg is 399.4 and progesteron is 137.5nmol/L
15 dpo: beta hcg is 767.2 and progesteron is 179.3nmol/L
An ultrasound to carry on 15 dpo, and nothing's inside the uterus yet. The endometrium is 14mm.
Is there any chance I carry multiples or molar pregnancy?
Thank you.
It is too early to know for sure even if you have a viable pregnancy
Detailed Answer:
Hello, and I hope I can help you today.
First, I want to say- congratulations on your pregnancy!
In a normal pregnancy, the beta HCG value is supposed to at least double every 48 hours and the progesterone level should continue to increase until the mid first trimester. A healthy pregnancy can have the bHCG values increase more than double, so the values you posted are not diagnostic for a multiple gestation. A molar pregnancy is unlikely, however, at bHCG values so low so far. Therefore, the only information your lab values show at this point is that you've conceived.
It is also normal not to see an intrauterine pregnancy on ultrasound until 6-7 weeks from the date of your last menstrual period.
So I encourage you to be patient- and hopefully in a few weeks time the ultrasound will be able to establish if you have a viable pregnancy.
I hope I was able to adequately answer your question, and best of luck with the rest of the pregnancy,
Dr. Brown
