What Do My Calprotectin Test Result Indicate?

Question: I took a fecal Calprotectin test and my value was <16. can you explain what that may mean? thanks

You are reporting to have fecal calprotectin test less than 16. It means that you have rule out inflammatory bowel disease and bowel infection.
Fecal calprotectin test less than 50 mg/kg of stool is normal result.

what do you think I'd be looking at if I'm still having loose stool. should I still go get the colonocopy/endoscopy done?

Hi and thank you for asking!

If you are still with loose stools than you need to do
- upper endoscopy
- colonoscopy.
- abdominal ultrasound
Upper endoscopy with duodenal biopsy will rule out celiac disease and other stomach musoca issues.
On the other hand colonoscopy will better evaluate large bowel and will take biopsy fro microscopic colitic.It will notice spastic colitis or if everything will be normal than IBS is the most probable cause of loose stools.

Hi back,
yes I have seen you uploads reports and I can say as follows:
1.Fecal calprotectin test is usually recommended to rule out Infalamtory disease and at you case it is normal. It means that your symptoms are nor related with IBD.

2.With regards to colon cancer , only in colon cancer with inflammation fecal calprotectin test is high.

But in other cases of colon cancer this test doesn't help.
3.Your symptoms in fact are not indicative for colon cancer.
On the other hand I repeat that you need to complete your examinations with colonoscopy and upper endoscopy.

These procedures are doing under sedation with minor and rarely side effects.
