Question : I recently wore a heart monitor for 24 hours. I learned that I experienced over 800 premature ventricular contractions in a 24 hour period. What does this mean? Am I at risk? What intervention is appropriate?
Brief Answer:
Concerning...further diagnostic tests advised...
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I have gone through your medical history carefully and I find the 800+ premature ventricular contractions in a 24 hour period very concerning. If you were my patient I'd ask to run :
- cardiac echo
- stress test
for further and immediate evaluation. In this way, I'd rule out valvular or coronary artery disease.
Hope it was of help!
