What Do My Lab Test Reports Indicate?

Question: Hi..I have been taking eltrocin 50 since XXXXXXX 2013 till aug 2015.but eversince I m taking eltrocin 50.I have gain 5 kgs .my tsh has been little above d normal that was
May 2013 tsh ws 5.19 normal range is 0.30-5.5
Thn I started elto in 50
Thn XXXXXXX 2014 my tsh ws 7.59
Thn Nov 2014 my tsh ws 2.28
March 2015 my tsh ws 5.89
Aug 2015 my tsh is 3.02
Now I want to stop eltroxin 5o completely coz I feel I hav gained 5 kgs since I started in XXXXXXX 2013
Kindly advice...can I stop my medicine now XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Do not stop the drug.

Detailed Answer:
Hi Madam,

I understand your concern.

Its not advisable to stop the drug in your case.

TSH fluctuations are common during the therapy for hypothyroidism.

Weight gain is not because of Eltroxin

Its because of hypothyroidism.

Stopping the drug will cause rebound symptoms.

I advise you to continue the drug with 25 mcg dose.

Consult your doctor with regards to this.
