What Do My Lab Test Reports Indicate?
Question: thank you. my recent ct and mri testes revealed that I have some shadow/cyst in my right kidney.urology doctor and radiologist could not determine as to what it was. it was not good or bad. another mri was scheduled for march but in the meantime I'm nervous as to what that could be?

Thanks for your query ,based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you had an episode of blood in urine ( Hematuria ) which got resolved after taking antibiotics for 6 days .
On CT scan and MRI you have been detected to have a cyst in your Right kidney the nature of the cyst could not be diagnosed or confirmed .
The hematuria which got cured with a short course of antibiotic suggests that it is infective in origin probably due to UTI (Cystitis)
Finding or detecting cysts in the kidney is very common when either CT or Scanning is done as a routine radiological tests .These cyst are usually benign in nature and present since birth and do not require any active treatment or intervention .
Treatment is advised only in special situation like sudden increase in size of the cyst or when it gets infected.
Do not worry and go ahead and get your MRI repeated to be rest assured about the nature of the cyst and to confirm the diagnosis .
