What Do My Lab Test Reports Indicate?

Question: Hello again.
I must have hit the wrong buttons on my computer, because the question box closed before I had a chance to finish typing. To repeat, as of last Thursday I started having painful urination(tip of penis burns/stings), more frequent urination, and mild pelvic/low back pain. Also been feeling a little feverish since then. Took a urinalysis and urine culture which both seem negative for UTI or other major problem. I do have a few questions about the test results(which should be attached):
- Ethrocyte count: 0-2(ref range: <3)
- there is a warning on the Urine Culture test saying the specimen did not meet the temperature requirements, so I should interpret the results with caution.
I should note that I also took another Urineanalysis at a different facility at the same date, and it was completely normal. But since I still do have these symptoms, I'm not 100% convinced I don't have a UTI, especially given the 2 questions I mentioned above. Could you please look at the results and tell me if you think there's anything to worry about regarding a UTI?
Also, if you feel these results pretty much rule out a UTI, do you recommend any further action regarding my symptoms? Could this be a prostate issue(I've had prostatitis in the past, and have taken 2 PSA's during those times, both of which were very low, so hopefully I'm out of the danger zone when it comes to prostate cancer for the moment).
Finally, can you give me any recommendations for relieving these symptoms?
Thank you very much,
XXXXXXX Pierce

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
I went through the query and attachment as well. I understand your concerns.
The attachment was password protected and could not open it.
If two UA reports are normal I would blame it on prostate. Prostatitis would give similar symptoms and vague mid to low pelvic pain. With a history of the prostatitis in the past the odds are pointing to it. The first sample had RBC count as there would prostate pressing on capillaries releasing the RBC.
Let me know the password I would give my complete opinion.

Thanks Doctor. Sorry about those test results being
password protected. Attached is a copy of them
which I printed out and scanned into my computer
(it's in 2 pages). I also attached the other UA test results
from the same day but at a different facility.
I hear what you're saying about prostatitis being
the most likely cause. I just looked up all the
symptoms I'm having its a perfect match for
it. But just to be on the safe side, could
you please take a look at the test results and let
me know if you still feel the same way(I was talking
about my symptoms with several 'oncall' nurses from
my health insurance last night and they got me scared to death,
saying I could die of sepsis if I didn't get to the ER right
away, so I want to be absolutely sure its not a UTI)? Also, would it be a good idea to take another followup UA today? And if that result is negative as well, then just conclude it's prostatitis?
And finally, do you have any tips for relieving prostatitis?
Thanks so much,

Brief Answer:
Prostatic symptoms
Detailed Answer:
The symptoms displayed and the urine reports result are far from full blown UTI.
However we should understand that prostate can get infected from the organisms within urinary tract. The irritate the prostate gland and this symptoms set in.
The other way of confirming the prostate infection is microscopic examination of prostatic secretions after prostate massage. This is cumbersome procedure and awful too. There is no rationale in repeating the Urine routine tests. The Urine ascorbate is so small to hinder the accuracy of other urine test result.
I suggest a simple over the counter NSAID like Ibuprofen, sitz baths in hot water tub for symtomatic relief of symptoms. some physicians also advise antibiotic prescriptions for relief. You can try this before you go to physician and get an Ultrasound of the KUB, Kidney ureter bladder and prostate.

Thanks. Just have a few more questions:
- could the ascorbate in my urine have rendered the results inaccurate?
- are you suggesting i first try the nsaid, sitz baths for a while before
considering having an ultrasound of that area done?
- I just want to stress that I also feel feverish, and today also have
the chills and fatigue. Does this indicate bacterial prostatitis, or
could I also have these symptoms with non-bacterial prostatitis?
(to further complicate things, we are experiencing extreme
temperature swings where I live, so I'm wondering if that could
be placing some stress on my immune system and possibly be
the cause of the above symptoms)
- given the above symptoms, do you recommend I see a doctor
right away, or should i still try the nsaid/sitz bath approach for
a few more days?
- If I had an infection, wouldn't a CBC detect it?
Thanks

Brief Answer:
Prostatitis
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I was thinking non bacterial prostatitis but recent fever and chills raise my suspiciion to bacterial prostatitis.
You can still try NSAIDs and Sitz baths.
You need a course of antibiotics as well.
Yes bacterial prostatitis raise the WBC level most times but not all the time, WBC raises sometime later after appearance of symptoms. The prior tests were earlier to the new symptoms.
I think seeing a doctor would be a good idea while trying sitz bath and NSAIDs.
