Question: Hello Doctor,

I have undergone my annual health checkup. I am attaching the health checkup report for your reference. Little worried as few of the parameters are showing out of range ( For eg : HBA1C, Hemoglobin, MCH, MCHC, RDW etc). I am also participating in marathon next week. Please help me with you advise on the report.

Brief Answer:
Apparently normal.

Detailed Answer:
Hi. Welcome to Healthcare Magic. I am Dr Anshul Varshney for your help.
Your Hemoglobin is slightly low and is suggestive of iron deficiency anemia.
When Hemoglobin reduces then in correspond to it, the other blood indices like MCV, MCHC, RDW changes.
So, increase consumption of green leafy vegetables in diet along with an iron supplement like Orofer XT once a day for 3 months.

Now regarding Hba1c, that reflects that you are at risk of developing diabetes in future.
You need to do exercises, walk, avoid sweets and high carbohydrate diet.
Get this test again repeated after 3 months.

Now, as far as marathon is concerned, you can go for it. Make sure you drink plenty of water to maintain hydration.
I hope it helps you.
If you have any further query please ask me.
