Brief Answer:
Will answer one by one.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
Welcome to HCM.

I have seen all the reports.I will give my opinion one by one.

1) Since you vitamin D level is low,you should take vitamin D3 cholecalciferol in sachets or tablet forms 60,000 IU once weekly which will be available over the counter.

The major cause of vitamin D deficiency is lack of proper sun exposure or person remains covered throughout the day.

Apart from medical treatment, you should have adequate sun light exposure preferably in morning hours around 8 AM for minimum 10 to 15 minutes daily.

2) For slightly lower serum calcium level (8.62) and iron level, you can take calcium tablets (shelcal 500) and iron tablets for 3 to 4 weeks after consulting to your family doctor and will advise you to take iron-calcium rich diet (milk, cheese, green leafy vegetables,sitaphal-suger apple etc).

3) Vitamin B12 (270) is actually within normal range but it would be desirable to keep that level above 400 to avoid clinical symptoms like fatigue or low energy which is likely due to low vitamin D and B12 here.

Also, vitamin B12 deficiency is quite common in XXXXXXX population,so you can take tablet Nurokind-OD once daily for 4 to 6 weeks which is a good vitamin B12 supplement. You may also consult your family doctor or some GP who may give further advise.

4) Your SGPT-57.9 level is slightly elevated but it does not have any clinical significance especially when all other liver function tests (including bilirubin,SGOT,GGT and ALT) are completely normal.

5) Your LDL/HDL ratio is borderline normal while HDL is low normal (37 mg/dl in report) and other cholesterol are completely normal.

The main reason for HDL to be low could be lack of enough muscular exercise.
Mild exercises for 10 to 15 minutes daily may improve your HDL cholesterol.

In general to increase HDL and to reduce LDL/HDL ratio follow these dietary guidelines:

- Avoid direct sugars and avoid fried snacks, bakery items.

- Have ample of vegetable salads- at least 1 bowlful cut raw vegetables like cucumber, tomato, carrots.

- Snacks should contain healthy nuts like almonds or walnuts and a few dry fruits but no fruit juices.

- Avoid soft drinks or hard drinks and smoking cessation if you do.

- Skimmed milk and milk items made up of skimmed milk are good to check on cholesterol.

- Egg white is fine but avoid egg yellow means yolk.

-vitamin B3 (niacin) increases HDL cholesterol.

6) Mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration MCHC 31.1 and red cell distribution width RDW 47.5 are marginally low and high respectively which do NOT have clinical significance,so no need to worry about it.

Rest of all other reports are within normal limits.

Hope this detailed information will be helpful and let me know if I can help you more.

Brief Answer:
Could be related to acute gastritis.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome again,

Feeling boated in stomach, acidity and indigestion could be related to acute gastritis which requires only symptomatic treatment if the problem is not so troublesome.

But if it is since long time then,it needs further evaluation by clinical examination and various tests to arrive at a certain conclusion.

So,I will advise you to go for routine blood works,ESR and abdominal ultrasound to rule out any infection or other gastric issues apart from gastritis.

Meanwhile, you should take symptomatic over the counter medications and dietary precautions to get relieved from this bloating and indigestion.

1) Continue to take over the counter antacids tablets like Tab.Pantoprazole 40 with Tab.Gas-X twice daily to get relieved from the symptoms of bloating and acidity.

2) Syrup digene 2 TSF three times a day will also be helpful.

3) Avoid hot, oily and spicy foods.

5) Avoid eating full stomach one at a time rather, take small meals frequently.

6) Have soft diet only for next 3 to 5 days.

7) Avoid complex carbohydrates like beans, potato and carbonated beverages and milk based products which are hard to digest.

8) Quit alcohol or smoking if you do.

9) Drink plenty of water and fruit juices the day.

10) There are certain digestive enzymes (Uni-enzymes) available over the counter which will also be helpful in the digestion of carbohydrates and minimize the gas production.

I expect you to get better within 3 to 5 days but if your problem persists longer, then i will advice you to see physician or gastro-physician who can order various tests (like routine blood works,ESR,abdominal ultrasound) and can come to a particular diagnosis and start the treatment.

Hope this will help you.

Dr.Sandip Kabra
