Question: How serious is this: "C5-C6, foraminal stenosis produced by large far LEFT lateral and foraminal disc extrusion which also flattens the ventral lateral surface of the cord on the far LEFT side. There is an underlying ventral disc osteophyte complex with superimposed thin broad-based disc extrusion which flattens the ventral cord surface. There is RIGHT foraminal stenosis produced by uncovertebral arthrosis and rightward extension of thin disc extrusion. There is effacement of the dorsal subarachnoid spaces. There is equivocal cord signal abnormality, consistent with myelomalacia versus edema."
Can't get into the doctor for another week. Left arm is very weak and hand is tingly, fingers numb and a lot of pain in the shoulder and arm.

Brief Answer:
This will need surgery

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have studied your case. You are having disc herniation in the neck which is compression nerves which supplies in hand. This is causing pain and tingling numbness in your hand. I have following suggestions for you.
1.There will be need of surgery but it is not urgent. One or two weeks delay is not problematic. But keep a watch on your symptoms. If there is any increase in weakness then you need to get it done as soon as possible.
2.Wear a cervical collar that will prevent any undue neck movements. Take tablet Pregabalin M at night time. It will relieve some symptoms.
3.Avoid any jerky activities, travelling.
I hope this answer will be useful for you.Let me know if there is any other followup questions.
thanks
