What Do My Scan Test Results Indicate?

Question: Dr Rauf,

Thank you for your inquiry.

I did infact have a "silent" heart attack. Went to my cardiologist, had as stress test, two days later was admitted to the hospital, had a scan y
Then a XXXXXXX and a stent inserted.

There appeared to be a 99% blockage in a 12 year old bipass graft.

Now, what are the chances of having a blockage in the other four grafts that were done at the same time?

Three were taken from my leg and two from my forearm.

Thanks again.

Brief Answer:
yes chances of blockage are present but less

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thank You for contacting HCM. My name is Dr Muhammad Ali Rauf & i will look into your problem.

I have gone through your query and would try to help you in the best possible way. Usual life of venous graft is 10-12yrs while that of arterial graft is 15-20 yrs. As there was blockage in one graft after 12 yrs so there is quite a possibility that other grafts may get blocked. Life of a graft also depends upon where it was placed and what was the angle. Among four grafts, 1-2 would be more prone to get stenosed. In your case after angiography only one graft was stenosed so it means that other grafts were good to go. In such situation dietary modification and good compliance to medication shows better prognosis (increasing life of graft to 15-20 yrs).

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help if not then don't forget to close the discussion and rate it.
Wishing you good health !!
