What Do My Stool Test Results Indicate?

Question: White Blood Cells in Stool:
My baby is 9 months old and normally in good health at 11Kg. He is currently breastfeeding, but my wife needs to supplement with about 250mL of formula per day because she cannot keep up. He also eats some rice powder and occasionally some mashed fruit. Two days ago, he ate 1/2 banana, some apple and some rice powder and then he got diarhea, so we had his stool tested. The following are the results:
Color: normal yellow
Character: Sticky and mucous
White Blood Cells: 30-50
Red Blood Cells: 3-5
Puss Cells (NXB): 1-2
No worms or cysts or fat.
The physician prescribed an antibiotic. He seems active and alert and his temperature is normal. He is also eating well, so I am concerned about giving him antibiotic. Can we just wait a few days and see if he improves on his own without medicine?
Dear Dr. XXXXXXX
Thank you very much for the prompt reply. I will start the antibiotic course immediately.
Thanks again,

Brief Answer:
It's dysentry, give complete course of antibiotic
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
Can understand your concerns.
The stool report has white blood cells, RBC and Pus cells also, this clearly indicates that child has dysentry.
Dysentry doesn't get cured by itself, if you do not treat it the symptoms worsens and fever, blood in stools increases.
I suggest you to give full course of antibiotic and repeat stool culture after that.
I hope that this will help you.
Take care.
