What Do My Ultrasound Test Results Indicate?

default
Posted on Wed, 1 Jun 2016
Question: I had an abdominal ultrasound at 34 weeks. I have an anterior placenta which is 16mm from the os.

I've had no symptoms e.g. bleeding. It is my first pregnancy and I am 30.

Will I definitely need a Caesarean section now or is there still time for the placenta to move up?

Brief Answer:
Caesarean section indicated

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Placenta whose location is less than 20 mm from internal os is known as placenta previa and is definitely an indication for caesarean section.
Since the gestational age is 34 weeks, the placental migration is completed by now and there is no chance that it will move further up.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
