What Do Pellet-like Things In Stool Indicate?
Question: Hello, I have had pellet-like things in my stool. My stool is mostly liquid, as I have intense digestive problems, along with a host of other autoimmune diagnoses. I've noticed these pellet-like things frequently for some time now. They are light in color (white) and are square shaped. When they would appear, there would only be one per excrement. A few times I have put medical gloves on and have squished it between my fingers. The texture is similar to that of if you squeezed a cooked Lima Bean (and what's inside when it is squished looks similar to the inside of a squished Lima Bean). Sometimes they may float but other times they do not. This used to happen with a fair amount of infrequency (maybe a couple times a month). However, within the last few weeks, it's happening nearly every day. Recently, I noticed that in addition to the white, square shaped "Lima Bean pellet," there was also an oval shaped "pellet" that was an olive green color. Any thoughts on what these little nuggets could be?
Brief Answer:
Further tests are needed first...
Detailed Answer:
Hi there,
The pellet-like things in your stool might indicate maldigestion. As you are reporting to have seen these "Lima Bean pellet" from 1 month now, I suggest it it time to run further tests:
- examination of stool for ova/parasites
- culture of stool
- colonoscopy
- upper endoscopy
- pancreas/liver function tests
- malabsorption tests
to rule out maldigestion or other organic pathologies of colon.
Meanwhile, I advise to eat healthy.
You are also reporting to have an intense digestive problems and autoimmune diagnoses. Can you please specify them in order to assist you further?
Thank you!
