Folliculitis/herpes-Go for IgM & IgG for herpes
Detailed Answer:
Hello young lady,
Welcome again to the forum and thanks for sending important details along with picture.
After analyzing the picture I can make out two important possibilities:
1. Folliculitis: It is the inflammation of of the hair root and attached oil glands. You can see in the picture that the eruptions which are still present shows an attached hair to each eruption. There is also swelling at the base of hair root which shows infection along with inflammation.
2. Herpes simplex : If you can notice there are superficial ulceration at various sites. The good part in your case is that these are actually scattered ulceration and not a grouped one making the possibility on lower side. But as these occurred after the unprotected anal sex so will keep it on till further investigations.
In your case I suggest you to go for IgM & IgG tests for both HSV1 & 2. It will clear the doubts regarding the possibility of herpes.
Do ask your boyfriend for any episode of herpes in past and inform me for the same. Also kindly let me know the date of appointment with the doctor so that I can help you accordingly.
Till the time you meet the doctor there are certain suggestion to follow:
1. Avoid continuous sitting for long hours.
2. Wear cotton clothes & undergarments and avoid synthetic clothes.
3. Stay in cool environment(preferably AC) and avoid sweating.
4. Take two time bath once in morning and at night time which will soothe your skin and prevent the aggravation of the problem
5. Do not Pinch pop or squeeze or rub any area.
6. Do not use any deodorants or any cosmetics over and near the affected area.
7. Do cold compression over the affected area. Take a wet towel soaked in cold water and apply it for 5-10 minutes for 3-4 times a day.
For the part of treatment kindly follow the suggestions below:
1. In your kind of cases I suggest my patients to apply over the counter available antibiotic cream such as mupirocin or fucidin cream in a thin layer in morning and at night time. Apply in a very thin layer so that it should not be visible to naked eye. You can apply it for 7 days and then stop it after that.
2. A pain killer anti-inflammatory tablet should be taken twice daily to reduce inflammation and pain. The groin pain at nodes is due to referred pain of infection and inflammation. it will get reduced as the inflammation subsides.
3. Additionally if there is any irritation or itching is present then can take tablet “Loratadine” or "Deslotatadine" tablet by mouth up to three to four times also if the itching is more.
Do not try to attempt anal intercourse again for few weeks as can cause aggravation of the problem. Do avoid vaginal intercourse for few days. During vaginal intercourse also it is better to be very gentle till complete healing.
I hope these informations will help you.
