What Do Rashes On The Legs And Chest Area Indicate?
Possible Diagnosis: Scabies
Detailed Answer:
Hello ,
Thank you for the query at HealthcareMagic,
I have gone through your history and the photographs attached.
I understand your concern
The symptoms of itch, pattern of your rash and the sore of left leg is highly suggestive of scabies.Scabies is caused by infestation of skin with a mite.
It is highly contagious and all your close contacts will also require treatment along with you.
Scabies is treated topically with medications like permethrin 5% cream(Elimite) or Crotamiton (Eurax). However you will need to consult a doctor since in several places over the counter sale of this medication is prohibited.
Moreover it is important for all the household contacts to be treated and medications for scabies should only used under the direct supervision and recommendation of a physician in young children, pregnant and breast feeding mothers. Permethrin is considered the safest choice for children, pregnant and nursing mothers.
Meanwhile you can continue using the cortisone anti itch cream
Use over the counter antihistamine like cetirizine(5-10 mg daily) to help reduce itching
Keep the affected area clean
Once treatment starts clean all the household items properly with hot water like bedding, sheets, clothes, pillows etc to prevent recurrence
I'd recommend that you consult a doctor to confirm the diagnosis and management accordingly .Hopefully the hospital's social worker can work with you regarding insurance.
Hope I was able to answer your question
Please feel free to address any more concerns

Contact www.healthcare.gov for more information regarding insurance
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Since you do not have insurance right now, I'd suggest that the clinics I mentioned in above answer would be a good choice for you.
Even though you might not be eligible for medicaid, there are other options for immigrants and permanent residents in United States for lower cost insurance(depending on the income). You can find more information at www.healthcare.gov for more information or call 1-800-318-2596 to talk to them directly for guidance.

Reapply permethrin 7 days after the first treatment
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for asking your question here
Permethrin 5% cream can be used 7 days( 1 week) after the first application. Since you applied the cream 2 days ago, you can reapply it 5 days from today.
Sometimes upto 3 rounds of treatment will be required to completely eliminate the mites.Apply the cream all over the body from neck down including sole of feet and leave it for 12 hours. After 12 hours wash off the Permethrin cream with soap and water.
However itching after treatment with permethrin is common and does not necessarily indicate presence of living mites. You can take cetirizine 10 mg at bed time for itching. If itching still persist after 1 week ,reapply permethrin.
All your close contacts/people living with you require treatment .Clean all house hold items including bed sheet, pillows and covers, toys, combs ,clothes etc in hot water to prevent reinfection.
Hope I was able to help you
Please feel free to address any more concerns.
