Question: Hello,
My Dad is currently travelling through South XXXXXXX and has developed a few red bumps with dark centres. His description is as below - I can also attach a picture. Just wondering whether they are bug bites or a rash?
> 1) started 3 or 4 days ago as 2 small red bumps, but it was not itchy
> 2) bumps have enlarged and a few new bumps have appeared (see current state photo attached)
> 3) centre of 2 main bumps looks dark (black) and may have pus below
> 4) the bumps remain unitchy
> 5) it is not painful
> 6) I am not concerned about it, but will get it looked at when I get back if it gets worse
> 7) it has not spread to mum yet

Brief Answer:
Possible insect bite

Detailed Answer:
Hi,Sir
I have carefully gone through your query and understand your concern,

This could be possible insect bite--bug/spider bite lesion.
This fact could be supported by the travel history through South XXXXXXX

Watch for any sudden onset of symptoms like Spread of lesions, difficulty in breathing and problems with urination.

In any such case immediately consult your emergency room doctor for hypersenitivity reactions.

In the mean while you can do the following:

1.Gently wash the lesions with antiseptic/soap solution.

2.Apply topical ointments like betametasone with clotrimazole.

3.systemic oral antimicrobials like praziquantal or ivermectin once weekly dose can be used. These are prescription meds and they should be used under strict medical supervision.

In case if the bite does not resolve within 5-7 days, consider a biopsy of the lesion.

I hope this info is useful to you
Thank you
