What Do Shortness Of Breath And Heart Rate Of 136 Indicate?
Panic attack
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to HCM. Thank you for your question. I understand your concern.
You are very young to have any organic issue, in my opinion. Therefore, I can assume this is a panic attack, concentrate on taking deep breaths and clear your mind. Try to think if there was any trigger to this anxiety, such as being in a closed room, in a crowded place, if you received a bad news or stressful news to you, as all of these events can trigger panic attacks. In these cases, when a certain event triggers the panic attack, human body responds to it by secreting adrenalin to the circulation, which, among others, raises the heart beat and causes shakiness. The raising of the heart beat itself, may cause shortness of breath. I would recommend you to try to be calm, as there is nothing to be worried about. In your age, a heart rate of 200 per minute is considered normal, after carrying out vigorous physical activity, being under psychological stress, or after consuming caffeine-containing beverages. I do not think there is need for medication to this situation.
I hope you find my answer helpful. I am happy to help, if you have follow-up questions.
Kind regards,
Dr. Meriton
