Question: Hello doctor,

This is Namarata, sorry for directly contacting you but since we have already discussed about my dry lips and other skin problems i thought this would be the best idea. For the past couple of days i feel that the chin just below the lower lip vermillion border is swollen but when i ask other they say nothing like that but i feel so ...but no pain as such still aim scared. also in the right side of the lower lip vermillion border you could see a small red to like in the skin just adjacent to the border again no pain but at time it burns ...i am scared again please suggest and help me also there are few things which is constantly bothering me
1) I get a hot flushed feeling every now and then. It feels like as though a hot blower is there right in front of my face it's either the right side or the left side of the face or it's just cheeks or eyes or lips but the flushed is there earlier it used to be only rare now it's very often ..
2) the lower vermillion border of the right side lips is very dry and tight and very flaky when I tried to just wipe off the flakiness the skin became red ... I don't know how to stop this flakiness ... I am not very strong or harsh when it comes to rubbing in fact I use a cotton bud and I slightly wipe it off ... I don't know what to use to moisturise them as the sebamed lip balm I use can't be used in lip line or the skin below it . Pleaseeeee help me ... now it feels like as though a tape is stuck on it and it's very dry and warm feeling sensation .
3) it's been almost three months since I started using sebamed lip balm how Long does it last ... The pack says three years but I don't know whether j can use this so long please advice

Brief Answer:
Use sebamed

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the follow up and photograph.
As I mentioned earlier you have developed rosacea.
Your skin around lips and cheek has become hypersensitive.
This condition can be controlled with medication but cannot be totally treated.
You can continue with sebamed lip balm in morning and use metronidazole gel in night.
Take a course of capsule doxycycline for 15 days.
For rest of face use a water based sunscreen in day.
You can meet a doctor to get these medicines prescribed.
You can use lip balm for any period of time.
There is no problem with that.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you.

Hello doctor,
i couldn't apply metronidazole cream or take doxycycline as I am out of station currently in Dubai for work . But I have regularly applied sebamed lip balm whenever I step out of house and even in night times ... sometimes the border of lips both upper or lower lip any side seems to itch or burn at times.... but I constantly apply lip balm ... as the climate is ver hot here totally different from XXXXXXX
1) when I buy corticorsine cream what specification should I look into can it contain any other ingredients or only hydrocortisone 1% cream please suggest
2) also I have attached some latest pic please tell me whether you find any improvemt in the swelling or redness or irritation or is it still the same
3) at times out of no where there is suddenly urge to itch anywhere outside the lips ( mainly in the moustache area) it goes off after sometime at that moment before I could even touch my skin the skin is already red like as though I have scratched it like anything but the redness also goes after sometime) why so ??? Please help me I am very scared .
4) also I have a doubt regarding herpes passing ... I happened to eat outside s couple of times in restaurant both of them were very good top restaurants using their spoon and fork I did wipe them in their towel but still I used them ... should I be worried ?

Brief Answer:
Use plain hydrocortisone

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the follow up.
It's good that you are applying lip balm regularly.
You should ask for plain hydrocortisone 1%, Combinations are not good.
The photograph shows redness but there is improvement, specifically in the lower lip area.
Don't worry about herpes, it won't spread through spoon.
It needs a direct contact with skin of an infected person or using towel of an infected person.
It is definitely not herpes.
It is rosacea, a hypersensitivity of skin.
Just relax.
Whenever you get opportunity try metronidazole cream.
Feel free to ask any doubts.
We are here to help you.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you.

Hello doctor,
I have attached few pics of my lips area also the chin area.... since today there was lots of activity in the sun area and lots of sand I felt really worried about my lips ... I did apply sebamed lip balm before going out of the sun still I feel somewhat weird could you please check the pics and let me know if the lips appear normal ... also under the lower lips the chin area there are pimples that are coming surrounding one area one after another . I am worried I apply ceraphil oily sunscreen to the face after applying boutique moisturiser. U wash my face two times a day ... is it because of the winds that made my face cover with sand ... is the dessert sand dangerous I mean will I get any infection ? I am very much scared please help me

Brief Answer:
Use a water based sunscreen

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the follow up and photograph.
Sand can cause allergy but infection is not that common.
Your face is appearing fine.
It's good that you keep washing your face.
Just wash and apply sebamed lip balm.
It would be better if you can use a water based sunscreen like suncross.
This would prevent sand and dust particles from getting attracted towards skin.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you.

Brief Answer:
You are safe

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the follow up.
Just relax, a single splash of water is not going to cause any infection to you.
Herpes or any other infection requires direct skin contact with the infected person.
Try to relax your mind.
You are totally safe.
Pimples are due to rosacea.
Keep applying sebamed and occasionally cortisone cream.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you.
