The medication also contains electrolytes to prevent dehydration and other serious side effects that may be caused by fluid loss as the colon is emptied.Polyethylene glycol-electrolyte solution (PEG-ES) comes as a powder to mix with water and take by mouth.You have to drink one 8 ounce of PEG-ES every 10 or 15 minutes, and to continue drinking until your liquid bowel movements are clear.It will clear your bowel.It is also a osmotic diuretic with same effect as Polyethylene glycol.
In case if it also does not help go for Digital evacuation.It involves the use of fingers to aid in the removal of stool from the rectum.Stool is emptied by gently inserting a finger into the rectum and removing it.

I can very well understand your concern.
See constipation is one of the most used and mis interpreted word i have ever encountered in my life(i am 65 now).
Consider the following scenario's
In europe if a person passes bowel once in a week its not constipation.
In US its twice a week.
In Asian countries its minimum one bowel moment a day.
So my dear patients its not about number of bowel moments.Its about what you see in intestines.
"they did a CT of his abdomen that says he has a lot of stools in his system"
Ideally when a person eats food 60% part of it is converted into energy and rest is excreted.
So what i am trying to explain you is that constipation is not about passing stools its a broad term it can be anything from decreased mobility of intestines,Insesnitivity of colon receptors to stretching caused by stagnating food(which initiate defecating reflux) there are numerous possibilities and fact is that his body is ingesting more then excretion therefore food is stagnating and filling intestines.
