What Do Stones In Vein Indicate?
Question: Vein stones were seen in today's x-ray after lithotripsy of left kidney (lithotripsy took place 2 weeks ago).
The original problem started with a sharp little pain in LLQ 4 months ago, looked into ovary, colonoscopy, all clear (only 3 benign polyps found). Then we found kidney stones, since I had pains and UTIs that would come back in past 4 months.
Today was my post-op for the kidney procedure with my urologist and he looked at these vein stones closely to make sure they weren't fragments in ureters, but he said: "i wouldn't worry about those, most of us have them and not even know it, I want to see you in 3-4 months to do blood work and a 24-hour urine analysis to see why you are suddenly forming several kidney stones), then we will lithotripsy the other kidney, which has a 9mm stone in it and 3-4 smaller ones.
Should I do look into this further? Those soft white round spots in abdominal xray area weren't there 2 months ago in the old xray I have in my hands, but I do have small sharp pains on both sides of abdomen sometimes, it feels a little swollen sometimes, but since I had a subtotal hysterectomy via laparoscopy, all my doctors tell me I'm still healing from that, which was on Oct. 1, 2013.
Don't know what to do.
Sorry, on health history, I've had only 1 small kidney stone 6 years ago that I passed.
* Subtotal hysterectomy via laparoscopy October 2013
* 3 full term babies, 1 of which was c-section in 2007
* Last year in 2013 I became anemic and my Dr. gave me a shot of depo provera which made me bleed non stop for 3-4 months, resulting in more anemia (7 hemoglobin) and a blood transfusion. Then a uterine ablation which failed, then the subtotal hysterectomy.
Other than these, good health.
I know these x-rays are hard to see with lighting in background, I did my best, but if you look close, you can see the soft white spots. Thank you so much for helping me.

Thank you, Dr. it's just that the internet says that if you do have kidney/UTI symptoms with these phleboliths, that they should be look at more closely, and I do, I feel mild to medium sharp pains in abdomen and feel inflamed in abdomen sometimes, and they already ruled out ovary, colonoscopy, etc. I do have kidney stones in both sides, left side was recently treated with lithotripsy successfully. My abdomen is constantly uncomfortable as of 5 months ago, never before. Thanks for your input.
Brief Answer:
CT UROGRAM will be confirm if it is stone or not.
Detailed Answer:
Good Day and thank you for being with Healthcare Magic!
Yes if you have pain on the right flank/back area you may need to do a CT UROGRAM to dilineate if the calcific density in the right pelvic area is a stone in the distal ureter or a phlebolith. Distal stone would cause a sharp colicky pain in the right flank area radiating to the right vulvar area or inguinal area while ha phleboliths doesn't cause any symptoms.
