Question: I have had 2-3 lumps on either side of my tailbone that don't usually hurt, but they are small, pea-sized bruises. Today I noticed some mild swelling and a 3 inch bruise that spans across the lumps and the top of my tailbone, and I am in pain. It hurts to sneeze, sit up or turn.
Brief Answer:
can be a abscess or inflamed lymph node
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing to HCM. This is Dr. Ashish Verma, a general surgeon, answering to your query.
Those two pea sized bruised over the swelling canbe due to inflammed lymph nodes due to some infection inside and now that infection as turned into an abscess and tracked down to in between the two as a large bruise, with pain.
You need to show in an emergency room for a proper evaluation of the site of infection and for the medication in form of antibiotics and painkillers and a few blood tests and xray of your spine or rather a ct scan.
Hope that i have answered to all your queries. If you have further queries, i will be glad to answer them.
Get well soon.
