What Do The Following Blood Test Results Indicate?
RBS - 60.0
Free T4 - 11.53
TSH levels - 10.85
Prolactin levels - 45.63
Doctor said as the thyroid is more than the normal range and prescribed Thyronorm 50 mg medicine and Caberlin 0.5mg to reduce the Prolactin levels.
Please suggest if the TSH and Prolactin levels are abnormal and is the intercourse allowed with the above levels?
Detailed answer below
Detailed Answer:
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. TSH and prolactin levels are abnormal and need treatment with the medications prescribed by your doctor.
Yes, intercourse is allowed with the above medications. However, you both should avoid conception for at least 4 months, as ideally there should be a interval of 6 months after the abortion before conceiving again.
Moreover, the thyroid and prolactin levels should be in optimum range before conception, as deranged thyroid hormone levels can also lead to miscarriage.
Your wife should start taking folic acid 5 mg tablet as taking it from 3 months preconceptionally decreases the risk of congenital anomalies in fetus and lowers the miscarriage rate.

The readings which i have stated are today's readings and I am now worried about the abnormal TSH and Prolactin levls. Is this curable and will it have effect on her future pregnacies? Also, Please tell me the cause(s) of the high TSH value ?

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear, thanks for responding. First trimester miscarriages are usually due to chromosomal anomalies in fetus or due to abnormal hormone levels like TSH. It is appropriate to wait for 6 months after miscarriage (natural or induced ) for next conception.
The ideal TSH in a hypothyroid patient is 2.5 before trying for conception.
It is curable with proper dosing of the thyronorm.
TSH levels should be monitored throughout pregnancy and doses should be adjusted to prevent adverse effects on fetus like cretenism, spontaneous miscarriage, mental retardation, intrauterine growth restriction etc.
Prolactin derangement causes difficulty in conception, however once pregnancy occurs, it has no effect on fetus.
High TSH levels are caused by thyroid gland underactivity due to various reasons.

To brief, Since July 5th she is having periods every 14 days and before July 5th she had a proper period cycle of 29-30 days.
What could be the reason behind having periods in every 14 days? Currently she is taking Thyronorm 50mcg, Caberlin 0.5 and Folvite 5mg.
1. She is feeling a bit weak with mild back pain and since recent ovulation dates (Aug 1st, 2nd) she is having tender coconut water
2. She had fasted in the holy month of ramadan from XXXXXXX 19th - July 19th.
3. We stay in a duplex house and she keeps climbing up and down the stairs 4-5 times in a day.
Can these be the reasons of early periods? Please suggest.
Detailed answer below
Detailed Answer:
Hi dear, thanks for responding. The cause for early periods can be due to hormonal changes caused by intake of thyronorm and cabergoline.
Moreover, excessive stress and fasting can lead to irregular periods.
Irregular bleeding can also be due to local lesions in cervix or vagina.
I would suggest her to observe her menstrual pattern for 2-3 months, if it is still irregular, then she should get properly examined by an OBGYN specialist, investigated using ultrasound and pap smear and get properly treated.
