What Do These BP Readings Indicate?
Question: blood pressure alarm. My blood pressure is sometimes in the range between 145 to 175 /0 to 70. I do not want be a pest and go to a clinic for false alarms. Is there a problem with these numbers?
Brief Answer:
goal is less than 150/90
Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic
The blood pressure goals, according the the JNC 8 guidelines in the US , for persons over age 60 if less than 150/90
This means that if your top value (the systolic reading) is greater than 150 or your bottom value is greater than 90, your readings are higher than they should be.
The 145 and the 70 are fine but if your blood pressure is normally higher than this then and is above the goal mentioned then the medication needs adjusting.
If most of the values are below 150/90 then it is ok
I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
