What Do These Blood Reports Indicate?

default
Posted on Fri, 7 Jul 2017
Question: Hi Doctor,
I recently got my preventive health checkup done. Few of the results are showing abnormal values as compared to the last year's report (e.g TSH level, Triglycerides etc). Both the reports are enclosed for your reference.
Please suggest what kind of action do I need to take these issues. Can it be addressed through exercises.

Brief Answer:
Diet for high triglycerides and test for free T4 and T3 for hypothyroidism.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for your query.

I have gone through your reports. You have slighlty elevated triglycerides and TSH. For elevated triglycerides you can try first through diet like avoid or reduce oily food. Continue regular exercises, drink plenty of water, stop alcohol and smoking if you do.

I would advice for you to try and control first by diet and exercise and repeat lipid profile test after 3 months

High TSH indicates subclinical hypothyroidism. To confirm you have to get Free T4 and T3 levels. This allows us to decide whether to start thyroid supplements.

Do you have any symptoms hypothyroidism such as weakness, weight gain, constipation etc. then you will need to start thyroid supplements.

I hope this answered your query.
