What Do These Following Lexiscan Cardiolite Stress Test And Scan Reports Indicate?
Question: based on this report does this seem to be in the early stages of atherosclerosis?
The patient underwent Lexiscan Cardiolite stress test. Rest dose 33
mCi. Stress dose 30 mCi. This is a two day protocol. Injection of
Lexiscan did not cause any chest pain. No diagnostic
electrocardiographic abnormalities noted. Raw data shows significant
anterior soft tissue attenuation artifact due to morbid obesity.
Perfusion scan shows a small apical area of decrease uptake which is
more in stress compared to rest suggestive of a small apical infarction
with a small area of ischemia. Gated scan shows ejection fraction of
69%.
IMPRESSION-
1. Small apical infarction with small area of ischemia.
2. Significant attenuation artifacts in setting of morbid obesity.
3. Normal ejection fraction of 69%.

Myocardial infarction, even small, is a consequence of coronary artery blockage, which is already a complication of atherosclerosis.
Considering the fact, that sometimes the examination that you underwent can have false positive results, I would advise you to undergo coronary angiography. It is an examination when coronary arteries (arteries supplying blood to the heart) are imaged. So we can find out if there are really blocked or narrowed arteries, and if yes chose the appropriate treatment approach.

my initial thought is to begin preparing to go to mayo clinic, as soon as possible. In the next 36 hrs. I'm a veteran and have had difficulty getting proper care for years. I'm very anxious at this point and don't want to waste any more time waiting. I had the stress test over a month ago and received the results, by email, Friday evening. If you can, please advise. My plan is to go. I'm not feeling good right now. lots of anxiety. what do I need to know going into the doctor's and how to get the quickest care possible? what do I need to expect from this point on?

It is good idea to refer to a good clinic such as Mayo clinic. If you have no chest pain, then your case is not an emergency, so most probably they will put you in the waiting list for the investigations. But it is good idea to refer to hospital in 36 hours, as soon you visit a doctor, as soon your procedures will be planned.
Also a cardiologist will examine you and will prescribe a proper treatment if needed.

But if there is a problem in a results of angiography, then everything depends on the severity of the problem, whether there is a blockage or narrowing of the artery, what artery is involved and in case of narrowing the degree of narrowing.
