Brief Answer:
Your daughter is on correct treatment.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for posting your query.

I am Dr Sudhir Kumar, Neurologist, and would try my best to help you.

I have noted your daughter's clinical details and reports of MRI brain & EEG. She has features of seizure disorder (also called as epilepsy). For the treatment, she has been started on correct treatment- Encorate (sodium valproate) and Lobazam (clobazam). These medicines would reduce the episodes of becoming unconscious. The medicines should be continued for at least three years.

I hope my answer helps. Please get back if you have any follow up queries or if you require any additional information.

Wishing you good health,

Brief Answer:
Side effects are minor.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back.

In children, these medicines are safe, as side effects such as mild weight gain with Encorate would not be a problem. Encorate can cause liver damage in very rare cases. Other side effects include mild sleepiness with Lobazam, which is not a problem if given at nights.

Best wishes,

Dr Sudhir Kumar MD DM (Neurology)
