What Do These Following Pap And HPV Test Reports Indicate?
Question: I would like a GYN to answer please!!!
I am 67 and had my PAP and HPV smear on Dec 1. The results were normal for the PAP and no HPV. I recently read that one should not use a vaginal lubricant for 48 hrs before a PAP/HPV test. The articles stated it can affect cells. I had never heard that. I had used Crème de la Crème, a vaginal lubricant 24 hrs before the tests. It contains. mineral oil, pharmaceutical grade petroleum, ceresin and paraffin.
I am now worried that my test results are inaccurate. Do you think I need to have them redone??
I have had normal PAPs for years and my last HPV was in 2014 and it said no HPV then either. I read that even the gel the Dr uses on the instrument he uses for the PAP can affect results. I have a very dry vagina and use the cream to relieve that.
I am WORRIED now. What do you think?

Brief Answer:
You doesn't need to redo Pap test and HPV test
Detailed Answer:
Hi dear and thanks for your your query to HCM.
I have read your question and understand your health concern but there is no need to worry because:
your Pap smear is normal
HPV test in 2014 was normal
I don't know the reason you have done HPV test so often because HPV test is recommended every five
years?!
Do you have intercourse with the same partner as before 2014?
Do you have any issue?
If you want you can upload your results of PAP smear and HPV test.
Please feel free for further questions.

I have uploaded my PAP records for the past 5 yrs. I have no idea why they did the HPV several times. I had 3 different Doctors, so maybe they did not know the past one did it??? Due to insurance I had to change Doctors. I did not even know what HPV was until recently. When the nurse called me with my results she informed me I would not need another PAP/HPV test for 5 years.
BUT, my question remains...COULD the vaginal lubricant I used 24 hrs prior to my most recent PAP/HPV have affected it?
I have been with my husband for 22 years. For the past several years we have not been able to have intercourse due to my dryness. It hurt and bled a little, so we just stopped. That is not good, but I cannot stand the dryness.
I just want to be anxiety free over this!!

Brief Answer:
Personal lubricants can interfere with Pap test
Detailed Answer:
Hi dear again and apologize for late reply.
I have read your question and see your Pap test report.
Pap tets is OK,you are negative for any cervical issue, while HPV test report miss.
Yes some personal lubricants can interfere with Pap test ,however there are a little data that tell us these results.
While there aren't data that tell us that personal lubricants can or not interfere with HPV test.
But in my opinion while your HPV test was negative in 2014 and you have had the same partner there is nothing to worry.
Please feel free for further questions

Hi dear again!
I mean -HPV test report miss-you haven't uploaded HPV test .
Hence please upload and HPV test to see which type of HPV are positive, because some type of HPV are problematic and not .
In my opinion you shouldn't need to redo Pap-test and HPV test for the reason that you have used lubricants .
