What Do These Following Blood Reports Indicate?
GGT increased, bilirubin within normal range, pp glucose raised-tt review
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query on HealthcareMagic.
Being a type 2 diabetic on medication (I assume) your fasting blood sugar at 120 mg/dl is slightly higher than normal. However, this level is acceptable because lower blood glucose level may cause symptoms of hypoglycemia since, type 2 diabetics are prone to hypoglycemia.
A post prandial blood sugar is higher than expected. A post prandial blood sugar should be below 140 mg/dl.
Thus, a review and dosage of your medication is required presuming that you are taking all diabetes medicines in time.
The total, direct and indirect bilirubin are within range.
The gamma glutamyl transferase (GGT) level of 89 U/L is higher than normal range.
Elevated level of GGT is suggestive of liver disease.
However, its value has to be correlated with other enzymes like Alkaline phosphatase, SGOT and SGPT.
Alcoholism can increase the level of GGT and that is due to liver damage.
But other parameters will help in better interpretation.
Thanks
