Question: i received some lab results and i am curious. my lab results state that my aniongap is high at 18 meq /l on a scale from 7-16

my mono came out high reading .6 on a scale of 0.0-0.5 K/UL
MPV LOW 7.6 FL OUT OF 8.0-12FL
MHCH LOW 32.5G/DL OUT OF 33.00-36.00 G/DL
AND APTT LOW AT 19.1 SECONDS OUT OF 26.1-33.8SECONDS

Brief Answer:
Labs are minimally elevated and not a concern

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

You forwarded to us a list of abnormal values on your recent lab tests. All the results are just above the normal limits. Individually these are of no real concern. The labs would be more of a concern if they had significant abnormals. These results are all what I call secondary results. In other words if there were a major abnormality then these numbers would help me understand what the whole picture means. In your case these are only marginally elevated and not clinically relevant

The anion gab is a calculation relating to the electrolytes in your blood stream. Since the electrolytes are normal then this means absolutely nothing.
The Mono is a type of white blood cell and it is only again marginally elevated and not of any concern. The MPV and MHCH are electronically derived calculations on the size of the red blood cells and has a wide variance and again in your case is only minimally abnormal, not a concern at all. The APPT is a clotting factor and it shows you have a good clotting mechanism and is again nothing to be concerned about

Overall I would say your labs are unremarkable and you have nothing to be concerned about.

I hope I answered your question. Please contact us again if you have any additional questions
