What Do These Following Lab Reports Indicate?
My 67 yr old mother is experiencing the following symptoms: Continuous chattering, repeated urination, no sensation of cold/ hot temperature, recent memory loss, inability to recall names of dear ones from 1st january 2017.
She is already taking oxitol 750 mg/day for last 10 years to control seizures after a head trauma. Also taking Lobazam 5mg/day.
I am attaching her recent reports. Kindly suggest further management.
stop immediately the Oxetol you got from the Internet
Detailed Answer:
Dear Sir
Welcome to Health Care Magic
I have gone through the reports
Your Mother is having effects of previous injury and also small areas affected by reduced blood supply
This is the reason for reduced brain function
However these are long term problems and as far as the recent onset problems (Continuous chattering, repeated urination, no sensation of cold/ hot temperature, recent memory loss, inability to recall names of dear ones ) are concerned, I would suggest you to stop immediately the Oxetol you got from the Internet and switch over to the old pharmacy
Try this for one week and see for improvement. If she improves when you switch to the old pharmacy Oxetol, there is nothing to worry
If the symptoms continue even after switching, then we have to add few Cognitive Enhancing drugs
As of Now,
Your Plan of Action would be
1. Stop this new Oxetol bought from Net, Get Old Pharmacy Drug, Give for one week, note the improvement
2. If improved, continue old drug
3. If condition same or worsens, inform me and I will suggest further treatment
All the best
Oxetol - 750 Mg - 5 days with Levipil 500 mg
oxetol -500 Mg 10 days with Levipil 500 mg
Oxetol - 250 mg 15 days with Levipil 500 mg
Last time when we shifted to Oxetol from Dilantin, my mother had two major seizures and now my mother is not in health to tolerate the major seizures, therefore we don't wanna change the medicines (as my mom was stable on Oxetol from last 10 years)
In this regards I met another neuro-surgeon and he also suggested to change the medicine and he also suggested but to control the major seziures we need to continue with oxetol for sometime at same dose and start levipil also. Give these together for 3 weeks and then taper oxetol.
So we are giving old pharmacy oxetol and ORS salts and she is stable on it. Her symptoms are also better. Does this happen due to hyponatremia? How would you manage such a case? What does MRI suggest? What is the gliosis in MRI...Is it something new or is it repair of old damage?
Thanks
You can Continue Current Line of Management

Question :
Her symptoms are also better. //
Answer :
As I had told you in the first reply > you can continue this
For sake of Additional Cover, You can also add Tab.Levipil 500 mg in the morning and evening for 6 weeks till she stabilises and improves. Then you can slowly reduce the dose of Levetiracetam (Levipil) and stop it
