What Do These Following Lab Reports Indicate?
Regular follow up every 6 months to a year is recommended
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing in to us.
Your reports are from 2009 September to November.
The nuclear scan shows a poorly functioning left kidney with urinary retention.
This was treated with pyeloplasty and stent was inserted.
The stent was probably removed in November 2009.
Right now it is important to know your symptoms in detail.
Since this is likely a benign condition, it is important to do follow up with your urologist every 6 months to know if the serum creatinine, blood urea and functioning of the right kidney is normal.
You might have to get ultrasound scan done every 6 months to a year and if there is any doubtful finding then a CT scan will be asked for by your doctor.
Since it is 6 years from previous nuclear scan, let your urologist decide if you need another one to assess your individual kidney functions.
If you maintain regular check up then chances of complications are less. Infection is the commonest complication due to urinary retention in the kidney.
Any pain in the kidney region, burning urination, blood in urine or swelling in the abdomen then you should go to your doctor immediately.
Please do write back with your doubts.
Regards,
