What Do These Following Lab Reports Indicate?
ive been suffering from PCOD since 2014..ive consulted several gynecologist for this who didnt suggest any such treatment...i was trying to conceive baby and on 22nd february 2017 i successfully delivered a baby girl...
at the time of C-section my PCOD was also removed and sent for Biopsy..
the exact line of the report is "BORDERLINE MALIGNANT MICORPAPILLARY SEROUS TUMOUR WITHOUT DEFINITE STROMAL INVASION OR BREACHING OF THE CAPSULE".
My gynecologis suggested a few blood test related to this problem..and told me hysterectomy would be best option.
now my question is
1. Is it an overian Cancer?
2. Should i consult an ONCOLOGIST for further proceedings?like before hysterectomy?
3.Any radiotherapy/chemotherapy is needed in this case?
4. any chance of spreading of the disease in other parts?
please suggest the best way to treat that matter.........
i'm 35 years...
XXXXXXX .
Need to evaluate further
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.
This is borderline ovarian tumor. It is in between totally benign tumor and cancer or malignant tumor. However, it is still not cancer.
Now the most important factor is if there are other focus or not. Sometimes borderline tumor has multiple spots in the abdomen. But in your case, as there is no invasion and capsule intact, possibility of this is low. The surgeon who did the cesarean might be able to tell. If there is nothing else, then no other treatment may be required. We can do a CT scan to get some idea as well. Since you have presumably one child, that too just born, I do not advocate hysterectomy for borderline ovarian tumor.
I think you should consult a gynecologic oncologist who will be able to guide you. Chemotherapy or radiotherapy are not required here.
Hope this helps.
Regards
as borderline malignant tumour is not cancer and that too was removed from ovary
what are the possibilities of affecting the other organs as the report says that
1.NO DEFINITE STROMAL INVASION DETECTED
2.CAPSULE IS INTACT AND NO TUMOUR INFILTRATION NOTED.
3.PERITUMORAL INFLAMMATION IS NOT DETECTED
4.ANGIOLYMPHATIC INVASION IS NOT DETECTED?
what tests should be done to check whether other organs are ok or not? like ovaries, tubes, uterus etc.?
what are the possibilities of turning it into cancer?
if its seen that the other organs are affected, what would be the treatment for this?
being an oncologist what would be your treatment procedures in that particular case?
as we are under an obstetrics and gynaecology and not an oncologist till now.
Chances of spread very low
Detailed Answer:
As I have already mentioned, chances of having spots elsewhere are very low. But we should check it by discussing with the surgeon who operated and doing a CT scan. If everything clear then not to worry.
It almost never turns into cancer but similar borderline tumor spots can be discovered later, chances 5-10%. If that happens then again surgery may be required.
So overall, results are very good.
But our gynaecologist told us, even wrote on prescription that it was STAGE 1A..
He prescribed for further review of block and slide which will be sent on 19th April...
If nothing can be found (as you said earlier), what would d next step from our end?
Is it like she has to undergo a periodic check up for her whole life?
Any permananet solution other than hysterectomy?
She is under immense mental pressure..she is worried even lactating her 1 month old baby..
Please help us
Dr. Has been prescribed overian cancer profile check up..
no it is different from cancer
Detailed Answer:
In actual cancer the cells go inside normal tissue whereas borderline tumor does not. It can spread over surface and the cells look like cancer. Hence they are called borderline.
Stage may be mentioned like cancer. So nothing wrong in mentioning stage. As I said, we can observe from time to time, at least 5 years.
Lactation can be done, no problem.

Not of any use
Detailed Answer:
No, in this situation it is of no relevance
Sir
I've been prescribed 4 blood tests and the reports are
Ca125- 35.5
Cea- 0.764
Bhcg- <0.6
Afp- 6.62
Doctor suggested to review the slide and block..we sent it to the pathology..
Now what would be the next procedure...she had only cyst in both the ovaries and both were operated at the time of c-section.
Now what should be the next step..
I've also uploaded the reports..
Can it be a sign of Ovarian Cancer based on these reports?
These are all normal
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for following up.
These reports are all normal. And it was quite expected.
There is no suggestion of XXXXXXX cancer or residual tumor. If the pathology review confirms borderline tumor then only regular follow-up can be done.
Regards
I'll definitely post the review report after getting it from the Path centre.
i have one question not exactly related to this situation..
Whats your opinion for ORAL supplementation of L-GLUTAMINE for repairing intestinal health (have some issue)?
do you think its harmful? is it actually the food of CANCER-CELL?
How bad it is for a healthy person? does it lead to any type of cancer?
Please throw some light on this issue..
Not harmful
Detailed Answer:
it is not a food for cancer cell and does not cause cancer or promote cancer growth.
At the same time, it has no proven beneficial effect.
Plz guide us
Any further tests are required in this regard?
It's the same result
Detailed Answer:
The report confirms same diagnosis. So if the CT is normal, observation only can be the plan.
Based on those two reports, what are the chances of cancer of those organs, if total hysterectomy is done?
After hysterectomy, is there any chance of cancer?
What precautions should be taken in this situation?
She has 2months old baby and right now hysterectomy would be tough for us as she is lactating...
And we don't want to take any risks..
And which tests should be done as routine observation?
hysterectomy may not be necessary
Detailed Answer:
Even if hysterectomy with removal of remaining ovary and tubes is done, there is very little chance of finding anything in them (if CT is normal). Chance of finding cancer in hysterectomy is close to zero.
She has to undergo periodic CT/USG scans and CA 125 testing.
