Question: Attached reports
Brief Answer:
Raised neutrophils
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.
Mostly the reports are normal. There is mildly raised neutrohil and eosinophil count. It may suggest bacterial or fungal infection. This finding should be corelated with clinical symptoms.
Let me know if there are any symptoms.
Hope it helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thanks doctor! My son has fever since yesterday evening and i have been giving meftalp 5 ml and the temp doesnot come to complete normal. He is 4 yr 8 months old, 19 kgs. Got these tests done today. Can you pls suggest next steps? Thank you very much!
Brief Answer:
Need more details
Detailed Answer:
Hi again
Kindly send details of any other symptoms apart from fever. Any specific tests will depend on other symptoms.
Fever with shivering can also happen in viral infections. Virals get better on its own. Meanwhile keep giving him paracetamol syrup or meftal-p. Let him take adequate rest.

Thank you doctor. There are no other symptons other than high temp(101). Slightest cold almost no cough. Last night he shivered when he had temp. Fever started last evening 4:30. Is 5ml meftal p syrup enough for 19kgs weight? I'm giving him intermittent sponge bath as the temp is not coming down to completely normal. Do you recommend antibiotics? Please suggest diet, medication and any precautions. Thank you very much!
Brief Answer:
Can look for ear infection
Detailed Answer:
Hi again
I think child's doctor can look for any sign of ear infection, lung congestion or indigestion. If there is no such sign on examination, then we can watch for 5 days. If the fever persists beyond 5 days, then a short course of antibiotic like amoxicillin may be taken.
Unnecessary antibiotics should not be taken as resistance to antibiotics is very common.
In diet we can give him anything he likes, preferably home made, well cooked food. Warm fluids will also help him.
In precautions, let him take adequate rest. Watch for any symptoms like ear pulling, rumbling sounds in chest, etc.
Dose of meftal p should be 25mg/kg per day. For 19 kg the daily dose is to be 475 mg. 5 ml of meftal p suspension is 300 mg per day. If its bringing down the fever, then its fine. Otherwise the dose can be increased to 7.5 ml 3 times a day.
