What Do These Thyroid Lab Test Reports Indicate?

Hashimoto's thyroiditis
Detailed Answer:
Good day,
Noted your concern. Hashimoto's thyroiditis is an autoimmune disease where body's immune system mount an attack on thyroid cells and destroy it. This process is often intermittent with quiet phases in between. When an active war erupts with in the thyroid against body's immune system, often the the thyroid is the loser and thyroid swells up.
Rarely, there is a recovery and thyroid cells regenerate. However, in vast majority of cases, this process continue till thyroid cells are completely destroyed. Positive anti TPO antiodies are indicative of hashimoto's thyroiditis.
An endocrinologist's role here is only to supplement the right dose of levothyroxine and monitor the TSH. In the initial stages, synthroid should suffice in small doses and evantually full replacement dose is required.
There are some evidence that, SELENIUM supplementation in the dose of 100 to 200 mcg a day can reduce antibody levels. But this is not fully endorsed by the endocrine society. Currently you are on the right medication. Regarding the dose, if the TSH remains in normal range, ( i tend to keep it around 2) then synthroid dose is right.
