What Does NSE Reading Of 52.45 And Chromaganin Of 48 Indicate?
Question: sir my wife XXXXXXX has already sent you her earlier reports. Recently as she was pretty unwell I took her to a doctor who is quite a specialist. He ordered a neuron specific enolase and a chromagranin A test. NSE reading was 52.45 and chromaganin was48 .Does it signify anything because I heard that the tumor may reoccur. Is there any other thing I should be worried for

The neuron specific enolase is positive in tumors of neuronal origin.
Positivity for chromogranin proves the neuroendocrine nature of the tumor.
However, these two markers are not used for prognostication.
These markers are done to know the origin of the tumor.
Whether the tumor will recur or not will be decided by prognostic markers for that particular tumor.
The common prognostic factors are size of tumor, stage at the time of diagnosis, presence or absence of metastasis etc.

Sir this I have got from the doctor who is attending her. Sir please do look into the files sent by my wife around 4 months ago. And with respect to this history please diagonise. . I see you are only anwering with this email. .She is a craniotomy patient ant I have prieviously enclosed all her scans. please do tell me if I have a cause to be worried. Or could it be due to anything else.
