Brief Answer:
Causes as mentioned.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query, albeit short and specific.
To recapitulate: Male/76 - PSA 9.4 - wants to know the meaning and chances...
Please give additional information for me to assist you better:
What are the symptoms that you have? Particularly related to urinary system?
Why was PSA done?
Any history of smoking?
There are many reasons for increase in PSA - that is also called as prostate specific antigen:
It can be due to urinary tract infection, anything related to prostate like prostatitis, sexual activity, benign prostatic hyperplasia.
One of the reasons can be cancer of the prostate and thus used as screening for prostate cancer - but one needs other tests like per-rectal digital examination, Ultrasound and biopsy if required.
Smokers can have elevated PSA as also advancing age.

I hope this answer helps you, please feel free to ask for further relevant queries if you feel that there is a gap of communication.
