What Does A C Control Line Occurring Faintly 30 Minutes Later Indicate In An HIV Test?
Question: I tested myself with rapid HIV test using whole blood..it showed only C control line till 30 min but later the other lines also appearing faintly..how is this intrepreted
I had a exposure five years ago.till now I hv no symptoms but I tested two days back with SD HIV 1/2 rapid test using whole blood..I tested thrice with same test using blood...all the tests showed only C line till 30 min...later after some time faint lines appearing in Test line

You had not mentioned that for what disease you had this Rapid card test as it is available for many diseases and also for confirmation of pregnancy.
Mostly Rapid test will answer within 20 minutes. If you had faint line after 30 minutes only, it could possibly be due to a false positive.
Anyhow it is better to confirm with ELISA or other more confirmatory methods as per the disease you had investigated for.
In case of HIV, a western blot test or a 4th generation COMBO test will be ideal, that too, only after the completion of window period.
