This is the result i received. Im healthy, 22, and work as a respiratory therapist. I dont particiapte in any drug behavior or anything like that so this has me worried. I am vaccinated for hepititis regularly so this has me worried. Can you explain this to me and my risk of having it?
You have to get a PCR done.

Hi,
Welcome to Health Care Magic, Thanks for writing to us,
I am Dr.Muhammad Ahmad, I have read your question, I understand your concern and will try to help you in the best possible way.
I have seen your reports , I want to tell you that not only drug behaviour spreads it but , blood transfusions , contaminated needles, injections, contaminated surgery equipments, specially dental ones also spread it.
So if you ever had a surgery, dental work done, ear nose piercing , blood transfusion or a tattoo done on you , you could have got it from there.
Now coming to your vaccination. You have been vaccinated for hepatitis but i would like to mention here that there is NO established vaccine for hep -C many are under making but no vaccine is known to be a sure protection.
As far as your report is concerned it is positive, It is antibody test so it can be false positive some times.
I would suggest you to get a "qualitative PCR" for Hep C done immediately if that comes negative you don't have to worry if God forbid that comes positive you will have to get quantitive PCR full work-up done.
And then you can get started with interferon injections to suppress the virus.
Don't panic as yet, first think you have to do is to get a PCR done. I hope it comes out negative. Stay blessed.
I Hope this answers your question, if your have more queries feel free to ask, otherwise close the discussion and rate it. Wish you the best of health.

Dr.Muhammad Ahmad.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing back,
Yes test is usually considered strongly positive above 10.
Between 0.9 and 10.0 we ask people to repeat the test if it again comes the same way we ask them to get PCR done , in your case it's better that you go straight to get the PCR qualitative done.
My best wishes are with you , hopefully things will turn out fine and test will come out negative.
Stay blessed.
