Posted on Wed, 22 Jul 2015
Question: I had a blind spot in the upper left corner of my right eye yesterday , it was like when you look at a bright light then look away and there is a blank spot for about a minute. Then in the upper right corner of that eye my vision was blurry and gradually went away in 10 to 15 minutes, I had no other symptoms.

Brief Answer:
These symptoms indicate transient ischemic attack.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to Health care Magic.

I am Dr. DADAPEER K, an Ophthalmologist and I will be answering your question.

I reviewed your history.
It seems from the history that you had sudden onset of blind spot and blurring of vision in right eye and it went away in 15 minutes.

These symptoms indicate transient ischemic attack.
The common cause that needs to be ruled out is hypotension/sudden decrease in the blood pressure, hypoglycemia/decrease in blood sugar.

If you are having any other medical problems like blood pressure or on treatment for blood pressure, diabetes or treatment for diabetes, then you require evaluation.

If the symptoms recur, then evaluation to rule out vascular causes needs to be done.

As of now if that is only one episode then no need to be worried if you are not having any problems as mentioned above. If the episodes recur then you need to consult your physician for evaluation and treatment accordingly.

Hope this information is helpful to you.
