What Does A Brown Mark On The Toe Nail Suggest?
Question: Hi I have a brown mark on my small toe nail. I am worried it is cancer. I have a picture I can send you. I cut it and the brown has come off in the nail some still remains. The mark is not vertical. I don't remember hurting my nail.

You have developed onychomycosis a fungal infection of nails. It is a very mild infection and is totally curable.
It is not cancer.
I treat such cases with oral anti fungal like fluconazole.
There is a good response within three months but treatment needs to be continued for an year.

Many thanks for your very quick response! Is it contagious? I use a LED lamp on my toe nails (when I paint them) do you think this could have had anything to do with it?
