default
Posted on Mon, 28 Jul 2014
Question: Hello, I have a growth at the top of my left buttock (embarrassing!). I noticed it about a year ago and it has gradually got bigger. It often scabs over and bleeds and has never healed. I try to avoid the sun and generally look after myself. I am 32, 45kg and 1.53m.

Brief Answer:
hi and welcome to hcm

Detailed Answer:
You dont have to be embaressed. this is common condition that we see daily. This looks like perianal abscess definitely and probably caused by pylonidal sinus even this is bit to lateral for sinus but it is possible. This means that hair follicle at this area got inflammed. This can be more or less painful,it can subside and progress but it rarely disappear spontaneously so it is recommended to remove it surgically which is simple procedure and every surgeon can do it. Alternative is to keep it clean and take antibiotics but this is less efficient. Wish you good health. Feel free to ask. Regards
