What Does A Hard Lump On Side Of Neck Suggest?

Question: My 11yr daughter has a hard lump on the right side of her neck. She says it hurts when she swallows and stretches her tongue. No fever and tonsils look normal. She has a history of streph and tonsilitis throight the years.

As per your description, it looks like a enlarged Lymph node.
The most common cause for the enlargement is infection.
In my opinion, she should get an FNAC ( Fine Needle aspiration Cytology ) of the swelling. Exact diagnosis will be confirmed. If it is due to infection, antibiotic and anti inflammatory tablets will help.
Hence, I request you to consult your doctor, get an FNAC and proceed accordingly.
