What Does A High C Reactive Protein Mean?
I agree with your doctor
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for asking on this platform
I have gone through the query and do understand your concern.
CRP is a marker of bacterial infection and it gives a good clue about the response of treatment.
I would have done the same as your doctor in the given condition. The only thing I would have done extra is blood culture to find out the organism (bacteria) which has caused this infection.
Montaz and Amikacin combination is a very good choice of antibiotic for initial treatment and as the CRP has decreased it suggests that it is working fine. I would like to know about the general well being of the child and about the fever severity. If child is doing well and fever has subsided there is no need to worry much.
Please get a repeat CRP test done after 3 days to check whether it has come down to the normal level. In most of the cases CRP usually gets normal within 7-10 days after proper treatment if infection is not severe.
If repeat CRP is normal, antibiotic can be stopped.
I hope this helps.
Please let me know if you have any more questions.
Wishing for your child's rapid recovery.
Regards
