What Does A Horizontal Line On The Finger Nail Suggest?
Question: What does it mean if I have a horizontal line in the middle of my finger nail? Two of my nails are like this. I never had this before, so I was curious. Thank you. XXXX

Thank you for your email. I have attached a photo of my nail. This line appeared recently on 2 on my finger nails. Its kind of hard to see in the photo. I have had long term health issues that began after a chiropractor over adjusted my neck years ago and a surgeon not operating in a timely matter. I was left with nerve damange. I have a pain disorder/sleep disorder. One year ago I caught athletes foot and due to some issues it spread to my breast, scalp and ears. I kept getting rid of it but then later returned. I was on oral lamisil for 4 months and I am now better with the exception of scalp. I eat healthy and try to stay as healthy as possible so that I don't encounter any additional medical problems. This is why I was a little concerned. Thank you. XXXX

Though hard to see in the picture but I have seem the line closely,.according to your history and picture it looks like special nail lines called " baeu's lines"
Beau's lines are horizontal lines of darkened cells and linear depressions. They may be associated with traumas, acute severe illness, malnutrition, major metabolic condition, chemotherapy or other damaging event, and is the result of any interruption in the protein formation of the nail plate.
As you have had many damaging events in your past this might be due to it. Here I would like to mention that Having these lines alone isn't any danger sign it is just the result of long standing somtinuous insult to the body.
I woikd suggest you not to panic and try keeping your general health better these lines don't matter much to be honest and they don't show any now thing if your bloods works and everything else is normal.
