Brief Answer:
Radiation
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Since you are having a 1.7 cm lump on your lungs i would suggest you do a re biopsy from the space occupying lesion in the lung to determine the subtype of lung cancer.
If in the PET scan the tumour has not spread to liver and adrenals then you must be in stage 1 of the disease.
Since you are 74 years old you will not be able to tolerate surgery and you can go for radiation as treatment to cure the cancer.

l had a biopy done an it came back negertive no cancer any where in the lungs could the pet scan been false positive
Brief Answer:
false positive result
Detailed Answer:
Hi
If biopsy came back as negative then u do not need to worry.
Sometimes PET scan can give false positive results.
I will advise you to do a CT scan chest with contrast after 6 months and if the size of lesion still remained same then no treatment is needed and u can lead a healthy life.
Wishing you good health.
