Question: A couple of months ago I woke up with a lump above my right eyebrow the size of an egg. There was no brushing or tenderness. Thought it might be a bug or spider bite so took Benadryl. A few hours later the swelling drained from my head into my ely and I had a swollen eye....like someone punched me but with out redness or bruseing. I went to the doctor and the next day and he really didn't know what it was but supposed it was an allergic reaction. 48 hour after the incident everything was normal. Then this Saturday the same thing happened. I woke with a lump the size of an egg.....drained within a couple of hours into my eye and now I am fine. The only difference this time I had a headace like a hangover or sinus type. What do you think?
Brief Answer:
need to check your bleeding profile and RA factor
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing to HCM.
Frankly speaking, i am not sure of what is the exact cause of it. But this can be due to insect bite or a ruptured bood vessel.
I would suggest that you get your complete coagulation profile done, to rule out any coagulation disorder. Also sinus type headache may suggest that there could be a bleeding episode in your sinus also. A ct scan of your head and a CT angiogram (if it contains blood) will be needed to help identify the cause.
Spontaneous bleeding due to ruptured blood vessel are usually seen inside the head. It can also be seen outside head, that too without any trauma, generally in rheumatoid arthritis. So you need to get tested for that too, by getting levels of RA factor and anti-CCP done.
Hope I have been helpful.
