![default](/r/images/default.png)
Question: What does it mean when the CT scan says the gallbladder is moderately distended, and 12 weeks later the report says the gallbladder appears to be contracted? (Husband was diagnosed with locally advanced pancreatic cancer on 10/24/17)
Brief Answer:
some biliary drainage procedure can cause this
Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
At the time of diagnosis of pancreatic cancer, usually there is blockage of biliary channel which causes distension of gall bladder. But if some procedure like biliary stenting has been done, that relieves the obstruction and gall bladder distension resolves. Then gall bladder can look contracted.
If you can provide the treatment history and reports of the initial and current CT scan then I may be able to interpret better.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
