What Does A Painful Bump On Forehead 2 Months Post Injury Suggest?

default
Posted on Tue, 23 Jun 2015
Question: Hi, I bumped my head two months ago, very hard, above my left eye. There was an immediate large lump, and bruising around my eye, like you get with a broken nose. I still have a small painful bump and am getting pain around the entire area. Should I see a doctor, or is this normal for a bad bump?

Brief Answer:
You may wait. This should go away by its own.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Can you please attach a photo of this bump?

2 months after an injury is a long time. After such long period, there is nothing to do for a surgeon. In simple words, if there was no need to fix or check anything right after the injury, nothing can be done 2 months after it.
The healing process is advanced and should not be interrupted.

The only possibility which can be treated at this time is a hematoma which for some reason has not gotten absorbed. Hematoma is a blood collection. Some of large hematomas can get infected and turn into an abscess. But this gives swelling, warmness, pain and fever.

So in my opinion, I do not think that doctor will be able to help you at this point. Healing takes up to 3 months. So you may wait another month and see how it will be acting.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
